Pea soup?

I have always been a bit befuddled when people describe a foggy morning/evening as “pea soup.” It’s not at all like pea soup. For starters it’s not GREEN! I have never seen a foggy morning that was green looking. I’ve only seen pea soup a time or 2 and never saw any resemblance. Any thoughts from you, the public? Where on earth did we get the idea that foggy mornings and pea soup could be compared?

  1. I always thought it was because of the density of the pea soup. Most soups are broth with stuff in it but because the peas cook down the soup becomes think and clouded so you can’t see through it. Who knows if that is why but that is how my feeble mind made it work.
