Cora, and little brother Ben

Have you ever seen the kid show “Max & Ruby?” It’s about 2 bunnies–big sister Ruby and little brother Max. They’re really cute and I can’t help but wonder if this is a look into what life will be like for us shortly. 🙂 Anyway…The kids had their well-checks yesterday–Cora for her 2 1/2 year and Ben his 2 month. I can’t believe my children are this old! What will I do when they’re graduating high school????? David went with me to the doctor because I thought they were both getting shots. Turns out Cora didn’t get any this time. Oh well, it was a good family outing nonetheless! 🙂

Cora is doing great! She is 36 1/2 in. tall and 33 lbs. The doctor said she is doing wonderful, looks healthy and is beautiful! 🙂 We discussed some of our frustrations with her will-assertion and the doctor assured us this is typical two-year old behavior. The way I see it Cora will be heading out of this phase just when Ben enters it. Cora was fascinated with everything the doctor was doing to her. It was so neat to watch her as she watched the doctor listen to hear heart, get the thing to check her ears, etc. When Cora got weighed I said, “WOW! You’re so tall!” The rest of the visit was spent with her informing us that she is “tall!” 🙂 She’s such a hoot!

I think you could swim in her eyes. I pity the man who gets lost in those eyes one day!

Ben also got a good report! He is currently 14 lbs., 5 oz. and is 23 inches long. Again, the doctor says he seems to be doing well, etc. The only issue she saw was his head. I have noticed he favors having his head turned to the right. I didn’t think much about it, but the doctor pointed out how the right side of his head is starting to flatten. This is technically called “torticollis.” It’s nothing life-threatening, but will require some physical therapy. They will show us exercises to get him to turn the other way and get his head back to a nice, round shape again. Because his soft spots are still there this shouldn’t be an issue. We start PT the end of the month. Our baby boy is doing great and we’re so blessed to have him in our home. He’s becoming a very smiley baby and seems to be really laid back. Now, if we could just get him to sleep through the night…

David calls him our little "Winston Churchill" because of the cheeks!

  2. Winston Churchhill, ha! that is funny! We love Max and Ruby too. Reminds me so much of how Soph and Riley are interacting these days… 😉 I love Cora and Ben!

  3. I’ve often felt the max and ruby connection here, especially since Alison was such a bossy talker and Charlie took forever to talk. Alison had the toritcollis as a baby too, and we just did some therapy on our own, turning her head from one side to the other a couple times a day. She grew right out of it. Good that they caught it early!

  4. I love it! They are so precious!

And also, we love Max and Ruby. I love how the Ruby is so girly, and Max is so “little boy!” Like our house, multiplied several times over, and much louder! 🙂
