Ribs and Chalk Art

Our small town has a lot of stuff happening down in its town square. Last year we only made it to one thing during the summer because I was weeks away from giving birth to Ben and then we made it back to the Pumpkin Festival. In any case, we decided that this summer we’re going to take more advantage of the things they have going on. After all, it’s a short walk (about 1 mi) and you can decide how much money you want to spend since there aren’t any entrance fees. The food tends to be outrageously priced and we’re still trying to figure out the balance of letting the kids get some kind of treat without breaking the bank!

This past weekend they had a rib fest going on all weekend and then on Saturday it was coupled with a chalk art day. We thought it would be a great thing to go to, especially for Cora. We had a great time. The weather was BEAUTIFUL, not too hot, not too cold. We went down at 11 so it wasn’t crowded yet and we just had a great family time. We got pulled pork sandwiches, freshly squeezed lemonades, a corn dog for Cora (her first and probably last…) and delicious onion rings, which I’ll probably regret eating 2 of! We saw a beautiful turquoise-colored parrot, and Cora did a great job making chalk drawings on her square of sidewalk! It was a great time! I love my family so much and feel so blessed that the Lord has given them to me. Here are some photos we took!

  1. I love doing stuff like this with Jamie and the kids! I love that your city offers such great “small town” happenings. Cora looks so much like you in these pictures, and I love how the lemonade is as big as her head. 🙂 And of course, Benny boy (btw, Riley always calls him Benny 🙂 ) is adorable as always!
