Valentine’s Day

My husband asked me the other day if I had meant to not write a post for the past 3 weeks, and I said, “3 weeks? It hasn’t been that long!” Well, it has, I think, actually. Gracious! Where has the time gone?????

What did you do for Valentine’s Day? We keep it pretty low-key in our house. Since our wedding anniversary is the end of January we feel like it’s kinda redundant to celebrate again so soon. I’ve always made heart-shaped sugar cookies for David and we may/may not go out for a romantic dinner. This year was a little hodge-podgy. On the 14th I made a nice dinner, put out the china and lit candles. We had a lovely dinner together as a family.

Then on Friday our friends watched our kids so we could go out on a date, and then we watched their kids on Saturday night. It was nice to get out, although David and I both got sick from our dinner. Oh well. We had a nice, quiet dinner together that we didn’t have to rush through, or pick things up off the floor, or tell little ones to stop being so loud!

The cookies didn’t get completed until Sunday, but that’s OK, right? Cora was a huge help this year. It’s amazing what a year does for ones’ coordination! We got them frosted and sufficiently sprinkled with sprinkles, and they are being greatly appreciated and quickly eaten by everyone!

  1. I love Valentine’s Day. What’s not to love about a special day to show your loved ones how you care? But, all that to say, I don’t think we celebrate in the traditional sense. We make if a family day and have fun making homemade cards and eating special treats. 🙂 jamie also uses the opportunity to model to Riley how to love on and spoil his Mommy and sisters!
