Sir Grumps-a-Lot

Yep, it’s here again. It has arrived like a raging storm and is here to stay for a little bit. Our sweet Ben has turned into a terrible twos tornado! One second happy, the next second mad. He wants up, until you pick him up; he wants down, until you set him down…it’s a vicious cycle. I have to be honest and say that I have forgotten just how the terrible twos really are! Although, it’s encouraging to see how far Cora has come! I don’t like to label my children, but there is a lot of truth to the fact that when your kid is two, or almost two as Ben is, something changes and well, life becomes so dramatic for them. He has taken to throwing himself prostrate on the ground and banging his head when he’s mad or not getting his way. He gets mad when I prevent him from banging his head, because he’s only doing it to be a stinker! Though he refuses to use words he still says, “no” by telling me “uh-uh” several times a day. He’s deeply offended by the slightest of things and yet, will give squeals of laughter at equally slight things. He wants to do EVERYTHING he sees his sister doing, even if he lacks the coordination. Ah, the Terrible Twos, we meet again. And so we no longer have Benjamin in the house. He has been replaced by Sir Grumps-a-Lot! Lord, give us strength!

  1. Ah, i remember the terrible twos… times four kids, oi! I used to ignore the bad behaviour, reward the good, and distract with fun when they got too stressed. It’s been explained to me that tots’ nervous systems are just developing at this point and they can’t really handle a lot of stress, physically speaking, so i made a sort of ‘cave’ out of a fridge box where they could go if they wanted to ‘chill’. This time is, i figure, a sort of trial run for adolescence… fortunately, it doesn’t last too long. God Grant you patience to get through this…
