I can’t believe how late I am in sharing our Easter festivities! Ah well! Better late than never, right? Anywho…Easter was a wonderful day. Not only in celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, but we got to do it with family! My parents, sister and her crew, and my grandma all joined us for church and lunch afterward. We had a really great day celebrating together, having lunch, visiting and letting the kids play a lot together. It was an absolutely gorgeous day on Easter, and we were all so thankful to be able to sit and bask in the sunshine! We also celebrated my mom’s birthday, a few days early, and had fun doing that too! I love my Lord, and I love my family, and I love that we, as a family, all love our Lord together! David did a great job preaching a beautiful sermon from the perspective of Mary Magdalene. For the first time ever we got the 2 older kids a few Easter treats to open in the morning. Cora was absolutely adorable. She comes into our room and at the top of her lungs, and with as much excitement as she can, she says, “MOM! DAD! COME QUIIIIIIICK!!!!!!! THE EASTER BUNNY WAS HERE AND LEFT US STUFF ON THE TAAAAAAAAABLE!!!!!” So. Precious. I love seeing these holidays through the eyes of my children.
On Saturday we had Cora’s greatly-anticipated Hello Kitty birthday party! She was SOOOOOOOOO excited to have her party with her friends and cousins!!! She could hardly contain herself! We had invited all the girls from school (about 7), her cousins and also friends from our small group. All said we had 17 kids (and that included Micah and Rebekah). The kids seemed to have a lot of fun, they were so well-behaved, and Cora was showered with a lot of wonderful gifts. I was shocked at what such nice things she got! She was blessed greatly by her friends!
Last week my sister and her kids came over for a visit. I thought since it was close to Valentine’s Day we could have an early Valentine’s Day celebration! So, we did! I popped pop corn and made hot cocoa. I also got the 5 older kids a new mug with a stuffed animal in it! We had a lot of fun, the kids had a great time playing together and my sister and I got some time to chat! A good day had by all, I do believe!
Nine years ago (on Nov. 25) I was sitting in a hospital with my parents, my sister’s in laws, and my grandma, all of us waiting to hear that she was here! It was Thanksgiving day, and there was NOTHING open except 1 random donut shop to offer us any kind of food. Even the hospital cafeteria was closed! About 2 hours before she was born, my mom and I got to go into the delivery room and be present during the 2 hours of pushing, and the final arrival of our precious Sophia Ruth! She was so beautiful! I cried, my mom cried, we jumped for joy and well, it was just such a blessed time. I was so honored and excited to be present for her birth, and the only other births that have topped it have been those of my own children. After we snapped lots of photos we looked outside to see snow falling for the first time too! What a wonderful Thanksgiving! And now, my beautiful niece is nine years old. How did this happen????? Well, it did happen, and she’s nine.
We celebrated over this past weekend, which was a lot of fun! All 7 cousins got to be together. All the celebrating happened at my parents’ so the kids and I left early in the morning so David could have a quiet house to write! My BIL and mom watched all SEVEN kids while my sister and I went out for brunch and much-needed sister/adult/no children/quiet time! 🙂 We partied in the afternoon after my dad, Gma, David and my BIL’s mom and Gma joined us. It was a good time, and we all parted ways tired but in good spirits! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIA! I can’t believe you’re NINE!!!! I love you so much!!!
Last week my sister and her kids came up for the day. My niece, Sophia, is in 3rd grade and my sister homeschools her. Going on a nature walk was on the agenda for the day so they came up here and we made it a whole family activity! We live 2 blocks from our community park so we thought that would be a fun place to go, plus we could walk there and with 7 children it was just easier! We had a lot of fun, the kids got to see deer tracks and “beds,” look at water bugs, go under the bridge and throw rocks in the small creek. Our grandma went along with us, and she had just as much fun as the kids, I do believe!
We were blessed to have an unexpected visit from my sister and her kids over the weekend. While all the older cousins were playing outside the two littles, Micah and Rebekah, were inside being cute! I took a lot of photos but will only share a few! Micah is 5 months as of Thursday of last week and Rebekah will be 11 weeks tomorrow, which is interesting because Micah was 11 wks old when Rebekah was born! Micah is rolling now, and that was lots of fun to watch! I can’t wait to see them when they’re both mobile!
This past weekend we were in the city my MIL and my sister live. My MIL had bought both of our kids new Lego sets, and they all had fun putting the various things together. My MIL kindly offered to get up with Rebekah during the 2 nights we were there so David and I could sleep. It was great to get 2 full nights of sleep in a row!!!!! I’m still tired, but maybe not as much!
While at my parent’s house 2 weekends ago my sister and I did tie dye with the kids. They weren’t able to wear the shirts that day but since we were all getting together the next weekend it was OK! We met up with my sister and her crew (and my Grandma was spending the weekend with them) for lunch on Saturday and then walked a couple blocks to a grade school near them. There was a neighborhood festival going on so we had fun letting the kids play and do whatever was available for them to do. Our kids, however, were very tired and very “off” so it wasn’t as fun for them as I thought it would be. We all left early, went to a nearby ice cream place, and then our family and Grandma made our way back home. We had a good weekend but as always were glad to get home!
